First Impressions Of Taverna At The Mar Vista

Following a long break, the Taverna at The Mar Vista restaurant has opened again with a new, market-driven spin on Greek food as well as a complete bar. People in the neighborhood have long been seeking these kinds of features.

Conventional favorites comprise the menu, which is inspired by the Greek roots of its joint-owner Demetrios Mavromichalis. The menu includes saganaki, a dish made tableside with kefalograviera cheese and warm pita. The dish pairs nicely with the orange wine from La Presa Vineyards. The salad Mykonos contains shaved onions, arugula and herbs topped with cheese made from Greek sheep.

Larger plates come with not only a slow-braised shank on toasted orzo but also a conventional platter of pork gyros and a vegan-friendly moussaka surrounded by olives, tzatziki, feta, lettuce wraps, and grilled pita.

The bar has a range of signature drinks such as the Santorini cocktail, seasonal margarita cocktails like spicy cucumber and blood orange cocktails, and lychee martini. The Santorini cocktail contains vodka, lime juice, Moschofilero wine, green grape content, and St. Germain liqueur.

The restaurant in Los Angeles has counter service and is open around the clock. Besides, it has brunch as a weekend-special offering for the crowd from the MarVista Farmers Market.
