First Impressions Of The New Capri Restaurant In California

The Eataly market in the Century City neighborhood is now home to Capri, an Italian restaurant. A lemon tree canopy has appeared on the story at the ground level of the marketplace.

The outdoor-indoor dining experience will be there for a limited period and has the ambience of Italy’s Amalfi Coast. There are manual paintings on the Vietri ceramic installation at the location with the signature motif of the restaurant. There is also a patio offering panoramic westside views on which white and blue umbrellas shade the tables. The umbrellas are characteristic of the beach clubs of Capri.

Executive Chef Giuseppe Manco focuses meticulously on the coastal-style menu, which is high in seafood, market vegetables, and pasta. Manco is a native of Naples.

Pizza options include not only a conventional buffalo mozzarella alongside basil and chili oil but also a dramatic Stracciatella with a pile of cherry tomatoes and arugula topping the fresh and creamy mozzarella curds. Cheese is at the heart of Capri, including a tableside cart of caprese offering three mozzarella varieties, with accompaniments including local tomatoes.

The standouts of the restaurant include the pasta scialatielli with clams and mussels, plus the housemade ravioli filled with caciotta cheese in tomato sauce. The ravioli product resembles a flower.

Main courses include the grilled swordfish featuring capers and lemon, besides spicy and sauteed rapini. For dessert, there is a lemon cake known as Delizia di Limone with Italian Limoncello cream, lemon glaze, and lemon crust. The restaurant also has a Babà al Rum al Taglio cake that is cream-filled and soaked in classic rum.

Beverage Director Luigi Capasso from Naples turns everything upside down through the Cocktail dei Faraglioni. An Italian cocktail with tonic and gin with a rosemary aroma is also a refreshing drink to try on the restaurant patio that overlooks Century City.
